Code of conduct

The standard

Be decent. Assume competence and good faith in the person you are replying to, including when you think they are wrong.

Specifically, and without being exhaustive:

• Critique the work, not the person. "This loses the calibration on re-import" is useful; "did you even test this" is not.
• Take disagreement about technical decisions as normal, and settle it with evidence — a test, a measurement, a specification — rather than by volume or seniority.
• Accept that people are working in different languages, timezones and levels of experience, and that a construction professional filing a bug is not obliged to know how a hash chain works.
• Do not harass, demean or discriminate against anyone. Sexualised language and imagery, personal or political attacks, deliberate misgendering, and publishing others' private information are not acceptable here.

Reporting

Report a problem privately to the maintainers through GitHub's report form or by contacting a maintainer directly. Reports are handled confidentially.

Maintainers will respond with what the situation warrants: a private word, a public correction, a removed comment, or a ban. A maintainer who breaks these rules is held to them more strictly, not less.

Scope

Applies in this repository, its issues and pull requests, and anywhere someone is representing the project.
